How to make your custom corn hole boards last.

Posted by Jay on 31st Aug 2015

This is a friendly update from your All American Tailgate Team, recently we have been receiving inquiries about how to take care of your custom corn hole sets. There are a few things you can do to minimize the wear and tear on your new boards. They are simple things that will prolong the life of your corn hole set.

The easiest way to make your boards last is to keep them out of extreme heat and rain. A day at the beach or laying out for a backyard BBQ is fine, but storing them in direct sunlight will fade the paint and graphics. A small amount of rain is ok as long as the boards are wiped off and not stored with water on them. Each set has a clear polyurethane coat that makes them repel water, however copious amounts of water will cause the wood to warp. This will cause the top board to bow and separate from the frame.

From time to time we get inquires on how to touch up boards that have been dinged or damaged during play. If the paint gets scratched or chipped, it can easily be touched up. We use exterior latex paint that can be purchased at any hard ware store. You can contact us for the exact color match, for your set. Once a coat or two of touch up have been applied, then you need to seal the paint and wood again. We use Gliden Min Wax polyurethane clear coat. Two thin coats applied with a fine brush will protect your boards and give them a nice finish.

We hope this helps you take care of your corn hole board investment.

Thanks,
